Former Garden House School Girl Flo Brooks runs a successful photography business, established in 2016 specialising in luxury and sporting events, children’s parties and portraits of children and
recently has been working on various projects at Garden House.

Flo’s work has been featured in the new Garden House Prospectus which was published late last year and a number of her images have been used to enhance and refresh the School website. Flo captured the enthusiasm and energy of the Christmas Carol Services and the restrained grace of our 2017 School Remembrance Day Service.

All these photos are available for viewing on the Garden House website – Parents’ Page – School Events. Flo is booked to photograph Shakespeare in the Spring.

After Garden House School which Flo attended with her sister Lily who is two years younger, Flo completed her schooling at Heathfield School.

Having achieved very strong A Levels, Flo did the Central Saint Martin’s Foundation Course and then studied fashion photography and styling at London College of Fashion where she earned a BA (Hons) 1st Class in Fashion Photography. Flo is professional photographer with ten years’ photographic experience. In 2008 Flo was recognised as one of the top ten photographers in the country in her age group.

Fencing and Garden House School

Fencing has always been an integral part of life at Garden House, and in recent weeks several current and ex Garden House students have done exceptionally well, both at the Landsdowne Cup and at the Newham series tournament.

It is the first time Garden House has used the ballroom for the annual Garden House match, which has been held at the Lansdowne for nearly 40 years now.

Special mentions must go to Trinity deLucy Mckeeve and Cordelia Yanicelli.  Ex-Garden House girls, Katie Castillo Bernaus, Iyla Flanagan, Defne Basak and Sloane Yanicelli’s have also all done very well.  Trinity has already won 2 medals competing in the Under 12 category.

Well done to everyone involved!

Sporting ace goes from strength to strength

Maddy Long left Garden House in summer 2015 and is already showing talent on the Sports Fields of Cheltenham Ladies College.

In face of stiff competition from 150 girls in each year, she has been selected for the Lacrosse Team, the Swim Team, the Rounders team and the Athletics Team.

Unsurprisingly, she was awarded the Most Improved Sportsperson for her year!  Maddy has also taken part is a sports tour of Guernsey, where she was one of just eight from her year to be chosen to compete in Rounders tournaments and Swim Galas.

In addition to Maddy’s sporting prowess, she plans to study economics at university in the USA.

Garden House old girls shine bright at Francis Holland SW1

Miss Faber had every reason to be proud of her old girls when she attended the annual Francis Holland SW1 Prize-Giving held on 20 September 2016 at Cadogan Hall.

Our recent leavers covered themselves in glory with an excellent first year at Francis Holland.

Katie Castillo-Bernaus ran off with both the English and the Physics prizes, while Amber Khlat was awarded the French prize.  Isabella Brankovic excelled in Geography and Lavina Primrose in ICT.

From Year 8, Annabel Sofer was awarded a prize for Religious Studies and prizes for Physics and Geography went to Rosario Grant-Diaz.

Of the Year 9 old girls, Scarlett Caudwell-Burgess and Bo Wetherell were honoured for French and Spanish respectively

Lily Bilton, in her last year at Francis Holland, won the Economics prize.

Garden House mentioned in dispatches

An excerpt from Robert Galbraith’s aka JK Rowling book The Cuckoo’s Calling

Franklin Row was an attractive street of more red brick; here were plane trees, and a great grassy space bordered with railings, in which a throng of primary school children were playing games in pale blue Aertex tops and navy shorts, watched by tracksuited teachers.  Their happy cries punctuated the sedate quiet otherwise disturbed only by bird-song.

Later in the chapter, ‘The sporting children were receding in a distant crocodile, pale and navy blue, winding their way back to their school and lunch’.
