Garden House has an active Parents' Association chaired by a parent. The primary purpose of the Association is to act as one of the channels of communication between parents and the School. It also provides parents a forum through which their skills and ideas can contribute to the well-being of the School.

Each class is represented on the Parents' Association Committee by a class parent known as the Class Representative. The Class Representatives hold regular meetings and coffee mornings with their Class parents to keep them informed and to exchange ideas.

The School and the Parents' Association host jointly an annual drink's party for each Class. This is an opportunity for parents to meet the parents of their child's class mates and for them to meet the teachers in an informal setting.

The Parents' Association meets twice a term at the School to review past events and plan new ones. The Parents' Association welcomes new, enthusiastic parents to join their ranks.

Parents’ Association School Events

The Parents' Association has been responsible for holding many School functions such as the Gala concert held at the Cadogan Hall. Every pupil aged 6 and above (some 200 children) perform alongside professional musicans. The production involves the Music, Art, Drama and English departments at the School with children playing a significant role in the writing and creating.

The Summer Fair held in Burton Court, provides an afternoon of fun for every child ranging from pony rides and an animal petting zoo drawn from the classic country fair, to climbing walls and bungee trampolines, arts and crafts, face painting and bouncy castles. Both these events benefit the PA's selected charity.

The Quiz night is held at the Royal Hospital and is the main fundraiser of the year. There is a quiz and an auction element to the evening. The most hotly contested lots are the themed artwork created by individual classes.

Members of the Parents' Association decorate the School at Christmas, organise seasonal events such as Halloween workshops, Easter activities, parental workshops to promote understanding of events in other Faiths, such as Hannukkah or traditions in other cultures. Parents help design and make costumes for all the School plays and in so many ways contribute to and enhance our children's time at Garden House School. Other regular PA events include Cake Days twice a term and book related events such as running an in-house book store to coincide with Book Week and activities and events around World Book Day.

Each year, a number of charities are nominated, a shortlist produced. Each and every parent may vote to select their charity of choice from the shortlist. In the past, the GHS Parents' Association has supported Over the Wall, Helen and Douglas House, Honeypot, Louis Dundas House, Auditory Verbal UK, the Roald Dahl's Marvelous Childrens' Charity and The Whitley Fund. Money raised by the Parents' Association is given to the year's chosen charity and to the Royal Hospital's Charity, the Chelsea Pensioners' Appeal.
