ADMISSION TIMETABLE

Most children join Garden House in the September after they reach four years of age, joining our Reception classes (4+). Children can also join us when they are three years old, joining our Kindergarten (3+) and there is a small intake of boys at 8 years of age (8+) .
As a first step we encourage you to come and visit the school on one of our Open Mornings.  These take place during term time on most Tuesdays (Boys’ School) and Wednesdays (Girls’ School).  The Open Mornings give prospective parents the opportunity to see the School in action on a normal school day and to meet the Heads.
Should you wish to arrange a place on an Open Morning, please telephone either the Boys’ School Office on +44 (0)20 7730 6652 or the Girls’ School Office on +44 (0)20 7730 1652.

APPLICATION

If you would like to receive an Application Form and School Prospectus, please complete the Request Form at the bottom of this page and these will be sent to you. Alternatively, you can collect these from the School in person.

The Application Form should only be returned after your child has been born.  The completed Application Form should be returned to the school along with the application fee (currently £120).  Once received, we will send you an acknowledgement confirming your child’s name has been placed on the relevant waiting list.
If you do not receive an acknowledgment, please contact the School in order to ensure that your child has been placed on the waiting list. We recommend returning a completed Application Form within a year of birth in order to ensure a place for your child on our waiting list.

FOLLOWING APPLICATION

Once you have received confirmation your child is on the waiting list, you will hear from the school approximately one year before your child’s designated year of entry.
At this point our Registrar, Miss Alice Hobden will contact you regarding the assessments. Parents who have applied for 3+ or the Boys’ 4+ will be invited to bring their child  for an assessment in October or November prior to child’s designated year of entry.  Parents who have applied for Girls’ 4+ are contacted in October/November before their child would start and their assessments take place the following January.
Parents are expected to attend an Open Morning before their child is invited for assessment. Offers of places at Garden House will be made after the assessments have taken place.

8+ Entry

Boys may also join Garden House School at the age of 8 years. We encourage you to apply for a place at least a year before your son is eligible to join.

Further to your application, we will send you a letter confirming your son’s registration for our 8+ Assessment Day. This will take place either in the Autumn or the Spring term before your son joins Garden House. If we are able to offer your son a place, we ask you to complete our Registration Form and confirm your acceptance of the place by the payment of the Registration Fee.

This sum is refunded to your child’s last term’s School fees as long as the appropriate notice has been given. Bursaries and scholarships are available for boys joining at 8+. They may be awarded to boys following the assessment days.

SIBLINGS & ad hoc entry

Garden House operates a sibling policy, giving priority to girls and boys who have siblings already in the School.

Occasionally places become available on an ad hoc basis for children further up the School. Please contact our Registrar, Alice Hobden by email ahobden@gardenhouseschool.co.uk or by telephone on +44 (0)20 7730 1652.
